All Quiet

22 January 2010

Fishing has been very quiet during the week with no further fish recorded since Sunday, one lost and just a few fresh fish seen. Water levels have risen a little to 0.65 metres on the gauge. Yesterday was very wet and windy especially in the afternoon. This morning is dry and bright and the weather is forecast to stay mainly dry and cold over the coming days.

Weather Outlook.

Today
A cold start this morning, with some frost, fog and icy patches. But these clearing, to give a bright day, with good sunny spells. Most places dry, but a few rain or hail showers are likely, these mainly along parts of the south and west coasts. Top temperatures 6 to 9 C.

Tonight
Cold this evening and tonight, with frost setting in quickly after dark. A misty night too, with fog developing in many areas. Lowest temperatures plus 1 to -3 C., with the frost severe in places, and icy patches will form on untreated surfaces.

Tomorrow
Overnight fog, frost and ice will clear slowly on Saturday, and some fog may linger for much of the day. Cloud cover will vary, but some bright or sunny spells will develop. Top temperatures 3 to 6 C., generally, but close to zero, where frost and fog is slow to shift.

Outlook
General : Mostly dry, cold weather in store. Saturday night will be very cold and frosty, with fog becoming widespread, icy surfaces and poor driving conditions. Lowest temperatures zero to -3 C. Sunday will be a largely dry, bright day, with just a slight risk of a few showers, on parts of the Atlantic Seaboard. The morning will start very frosty, and foggy in places too, and temperatures will be low for most of the day. Indeed, the fog and frost may linger in a few sheltered inland areas for much of the afternoon, despite some decent amounts of winter sunshine. Top temperatures 3 to 6 C., generally, but close to zero where frost and fog are slow to shift. It will be very cold and frosty again on Sunday night and Monday morning too, with icy patches and some dense fog. Early days of next week : At this stage, it looks as if high pressure to the east, mainly over Scandinavia, will try and keep weather fronts out in the Atlantic, so that the weather for most places will be mainly dry and cold. Some sunshine certainly by day, but some frost at night, with some ice and fog. But cloud and patches of mostly light rain, may affect parts of the Atlantic Seaboard, from time to time.
