Good Grilse Run Continues

Good numbers of grilse continue to run and catch reports have also been good over the past week. Fishing was particularly good on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday following the heavy rain on Wednesday 21st. Water levels remain constant at just below .5 metres on the gauge at the Four Masters’ Bridge as rain showers keep water levels topped up.

Among the anglers to report their catch over the past week were; J. Deeney 2 fish of 4 and 5lbs on fly from Brineys, M. Barry had 3 fish from the Eel Weir and Nursery on worm from 2.5 to 5lbs, E. Parkinson had 2 fish of 4 and 5lbs on worm from the Money Hole, K. Joyce had 2 fish of 3 and 5lbs on fly from Corry, G. Harran had a 4lbs fish on fly from the Wash Stones, M Mc Evoy had 3 fish from 3 to 5lbs on shrimp from the Blackwater, S. Hoper had 3 fish from 3 to 5lbs on shrimp from the Money Hole, M. Wilson had 2 fish of 5 and 6lbs from the Red Roof on fly, J. O’ Neill had 2 4lbs fish on fly from the Sea Pool, P. Mc Mahon had 2 fish of 5 and 6lbs on fly from the Sea Pool, A. Carty had 2 fish of 3 and 4lbs on worm from the Red Roof, M. King had 2 fish of 4 and 5lbs on shrimp from the Wash Stones, A. Vandawalle had 3 fish of 3 to 4lbs on fly from the Eel Weir and Black Hole, E. Mc Manus had 2 fish of 2.5 and 4lbs from Lennox’s and Briney’s Pool on worm and Joseph Broderick had a 2.5lbs grilse on fly from Briney’s Pool on Friday.

Today
Today will be mainly dry with some sunny spells but it will be cloudier in the southwest with some spots of drizzle. A few showers are possible in the north. Highest temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees in light to moderate westerly winds.

Mainly dry tonight, but still the chance of a light shower near the north coast. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in light northwesterly winds.

Tomorrow
Tomorrow, Thursday will be warm and humid but mostly cloudy again. Rain will spread into the northwest during the evening. Top temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees in light west to southwesterly winds.

Thursday night will be cloudy with outbreaks of rain. Friday will be a warm and mostly cloudy day with a mix of short sunny breaks and infrequent showers. Many areas will have a dry day. Saturday and Sunday will both be mostly dry days except for the small chance of a few showers – these mainly across the midlands and north of the country. Winds will be light west or southwest in direction, and temperatures in the high teens or early twenties.
