Drought like conditions and very low water levels have continued over the past number of weeks and fishing has been quiet, hence the lack of reports. Although water levels are still very low there has been a little more activity in recent days with some grilse running and reports of good numbers of grilse off Melvin suggesting that, despite the low water, fish are running through to the lake.
Among the anglers to report catches over the past week were, C. Robinson who had a 4lbs fish on Toby from the Wash Stones, H. Esch had a 14.5lbs fish on fly and a 3lbs fish on grilse, both from the Sea Pools, M. Kruse had a 3lbs fish on fly from the Red Roof, G. Matier had a 4lbs fish on shrimp from the Sea Pools, A. Carty had a 4lbs fish on flying c from the Black Hole, F. Bender had 2, 3lbs fish on fly from the Red Roof, S. Mc Neill had 3 fish on Saturday and 2 on Sunday from the Eel Weir and Boat House from 3 to 4lbs on worm and Mepps, H. Lawrence had a 4lbs fish on fly from the Upper Mill, U. Frei had a 3lbs fish from Salmon Leap on fly, G. Morrow had a 6lbs fish from the Sea Pools on shrimp.
Little rain is forecast for the week ahead with mainly bright, dry weather set to continue until Sunday at the earliest.
