Dry Weather Continues

6 May 2010

Water levels are now just above .4 metres on the gauge. There are still good numbers of fish in the 6 to 7lbs range running. On Sunday P. Foley had a 3lbs grilse on spinner from the Meadow, P.J. Bailey had a 6lbs fish on worm from the Black Hole, C. Fitzpatrick had an 8lbs fish on worm from Mowats. On Monday J. Baker had a 5lbs fish on fly from the lower Blackwater, S. Trautwein had a 7lbs fish on Cascade from the Sea Pools, his brother C. Trautwein had a 4lbs fish on fly from the Sea Pools on Tuesday, J. O’ Neill had a 6lbs fish on Cascade from the Sea Pools on Tuesday and had another 6lbs fish from the Crooked Hole on fly on Wednesday morning, P. Van Dasselaar had a 6lbs fish on fly from the Sea Pools on Wednesday and had a further 6lbs fish this morning, Thursday. P. O’ Malley had a 6.5lbs fish on fly from the Sea Pools on Wednesday evening.

There is little prospect of a rise in water levels soon as the forecast is for the dry spell to continue into next week.

Weather Outlook.

Today
Further patchy light rain and drizzle for a time this afternoon, however drier weather will continue to develop. There will still be a fair deal of cloud about though, with just some occasional sunny spells and well scattered showers. Afternoon temperatures will range 12 to 16 degrees, highest across the south midlands, with moderate northeast winds.

Tonight
Dry for much of tonight with clear spells. However some showers will develop over Leinster later. Turning cool with temperatures falling to between 3 and 8 degrees, in a light to moderate northeast breeze.

Tomorrow
More in the way of sunny spells tomorrow, Friday, but scattered showers too, mainly during the first half of the day. Cool, with highest temperatures just 10 to 14 degrees, in a fresh northeasterly wind.

Outlook
Temperatures will stay in the low teens this weekend and it will feel cool in a fresh northeasterly wind. Highest temperatures will range from 10 to 14 degrees Celsius. There will be scattered showers over the weekend, but it will be mostly dry, with some sunny spells. The nights will be quite cold as lowest temperatures fall to between 2 and 5 degrees Celsius, with the risk of grass frost for inland areas. The early days of next week will have a lot of dry weather with sunny spells at times and good drying conditions, with some isolated showers at times. The cool weather will continue into next week as a northerly airflow keeps temperatures below the average for the time of the year, with maximum afternoon temperatures struggling to reach double figures in parts of the country.
