Water Dropping

20 April 2010

Water levels have dropped further to 0.5m on the gauge. Fishing over the weekend was pretty good with 7 fish reported on Saturday and 3 on Sunday. Fishing has been quieter with one fish taken below Lennox’s Bridge on spinner yesterday and no fish reported and little seen today, Tuesday.
On Saturday J. Gill had a 5lbs fish from the Meadow on flying c and returned another from the Stoppage also on flying c. Walter Huldi had a fish on Saturday and Sunday, both around 5lbs on a self tied “volcano” fly from the Bridge Pool and the Blackwater. Marty King had a 7.5lbs fish on prawn from the Money Hole on Saturday, Hugh O’ Hagan had a 6lbs fish on Rapalla from the Grazings, Gerry who traveled all the way from Kerry was rewarded with a sparkling fresh grilse from the Island Pool on fly, Andrew Rush had an 8lbs fish on worm from the Boathouse and Pat O’ Meara had a 6.5lbs fish on worm from the Mill Pool, all on Saturday. On Sunday evening Bill Likely had an 8lbs fish on toby from the Stone Ditch and Rory Morrin had a 5lbs fish on cascade from the Ash Hole.

The weather is set to remain dry but turning colder towards the weekend.

Cold and dry tonight with clear spells. Lowest temperatures from -2 to +3 degrees with a sharp frost in places.

Tomorrow
Cool and mostly dry tomorrow with sunny spells, the best of these in the south. A few showers are likely in northern areas. Highest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees.

Saturday & Sunday: It will become even milder again over the weekend with temperatures rising to between 13 and 18 degrees in moderate south to southeast breezes. The east of the country will be dry on Saturday, but outbreaks of rain will develop further west. The rain will become more widespread through Saturday night and Sunday, eventually clearing during Sunday night or early Monday morning. Outlook: Warm for the early days of next week with maxima up to 19 or 20 degrees. Some patchy rain, drizzle and fog will occur but generally the weather looks like being mainly dry with some warm sunshine breaking through.
