Fishing had been very slow in the bright conditions over the past week. Richard Todd recorded a second salmon of around 5.5lbs on Monday from the Sea Pool on flying c. No fish were reported on Tuesday or Wednesday. Yesterday, Thursday 2 fish were reported. Davy Elliot had a 6.5lbs fish on a Cascade from the Crooked Hole and Frank O’ Mara had a 5lbs fish on flying c from the Sea Pool. Today, Friday was better with 4 fish reported. Brian Mc Evoy had a 7lbs fish on flying c from the Flagstones, John Gill Had an 8lbs fish on a Jenkins flying c from Brineys and released a 5lbs grilse from the pool below. Peter Zahnd had a 6lbs grilse on a size 10 Cascade just above the telegraph pole at Lennox’s Bridge this evening.
Water levels have dropped to a little under .6 metres on the gauge. Numbers of early grilse are starting to run. Conditions are set to turn colder and more unsettled from Sunday, but with only small amounts of rainfall.
